Chris has Down's Syndrome. He goes to school with his friend Lauren, and they and their mums are going to the seaside. We learn something about Chris's physical characteristics and that he doesn't speak very clearly, but the main emphasis is on his frustration because he is slow at learning. We don't see him getting really angry and upset, but is is clear this is a problem for him. The photos show us two happy youngsters having a lovely day out, and the bright border graphics add to the upbeat nature of the book. There is a fact sheet about people with learning difficulties, a glossary, a list of ways of being helpful with sensitivity, and a list of addresses.
