Jordan is partially deaf, but this doesn't stop him from leading an active life, swimming, going to karate, and bowling. We see him using his hearing aids and other special equipment, and we meet his friends, some of whom use sign language. He uses lip reading too. The photographs, while staged, are interesting and helpful, and the fact that Jordan and his family are real people adds to the positive ethos. A good introduction to what it is like to live with a hearing disability. The usual index, glossary and list of helpful organisations will make the book useful in schools.
