We meet three children and an adult who suffer from deafness in varying degrees. Deafness is explained by use of an interesting graphic of the ear, and we learn about different aids and technology. Communication by signing and lip reading is covered, and we see deaf people coping at work and at school. There is excellent information about getting help, including organisations with web sites, and a glossary and index make this a useful introduction to the problems and solutions of being deaf.
