Each story has questions along with it to help the discussion along, and children are encouraged to talk about their feelings with someone who cares. Thre three chapters in 'Afraid' are to do with fear of the dark, bullying, and fear of dogs. The adults in these books help the children cope remarkably well, and their reactions to children's problems could be a good lesson in psychology for parents. Multiracial families are in evidence, and the large print and coloured illustrations make the series accessible.
