Max (a small brown boy) and his friends Little Pink (a pig) and Big Blue (an elephant) are getting ready for bed when Max suggests a visit outside to look at the stars. Little Pink is delighted, but Big Blue is not happy. She, the biggest one, is scared. Little Pink teases her and is unkind, but understanding Max finds the answer: he hangs stars from Big Blue's ceilings, and they all three gaze at the stars until they fall asleep.
