In a switch on the usual child-afraid-of-monster-under-the-bed theme, this hilarious little book tells of a young monster named Dennis, who is afraid of humans under his bed. In spite of his mum's assurances that there are no such things as humans, he decides to sleep under his bed where no humans will look for him - but - in the middle of the night, a boy who is lost in the wood stumbles on the monsters' cave, finds Dennis's bed, and in preparation for sleep decides to look under the bed for monsters. The final page shows boy and monster fleeing from each other as fast as they can go. The witty rhymes are a perfect match for the illustrations.
