Miranda makes a scary witch mask at a Halloween party, and as she walks home, she remembers that the ghosts will be out again that night, frightening her as they 'dance wildly around her room'. She bravely resolves to use her mask to frighten them. The ploy pays off, and a determined Miranda routs the ghosts. The unusual illustrations, full of blues and greys and with lots of comical/scary ghosts about, are a treat, and when at the end Miranda sweeps up the tiny remains of ghost that have turned into 'crumpled white leaves' you truly feel she has finished off her fears forever. Great stuff!
