This could be used with almost any fear a child has. The three ducklings are lost, and the smallest wants his mama. His legs feel wobbly, so his older brothers show him how to do 'one step'. This involves putting one foot down while saying 'one' and the other foot down while saying 'step'. Little duckling practices for a bit, and then they all three start through the trees. There is a bit of a wobble when he forgets and looks up at the huge, looming trees, and another when crossing the big meadow, but big brothers are encouraging, and Little One Step learns to take one step at a time until he reaches Mama Duck. Wonderful line and wash illustrations in shades of ochre throughout make this very special.
