Baby Duck is afraid of swimming. Mr and Mrs Duck try to encourage her, but she doesn't like to swallow water and her arms get tired. She would like to be a member of the swimming team, but her fears hold her back. It is Grandpa Duck, as always in this delightful series, who encourages her to take her time, and who tells her that even champions get tired and have to cough up water sometimes. When she is ready, she jumps in and joins the team. Baby Duck's songs, which she sings to herself for reassurance, help make the story fun, and nervous children could be encouraged to make up their own songs when worried.
