Michael's monsters ISBN: 9780862647230
Published by Andersen Press, 1996
When Michael needs the loo, someone in his family must stand at the foot of the stairs while he makes a dash for the bathroom. This is because of all the monsters that Michael believes are upstairs. Sometimes, if the family doesn't co-operate, he wets himself. Dad finally shows Michael there are no monsters - that each possibility is just his imagination. Then Michael is happy, but when dad is upstairs by himself, he sees a monster too. It is good to know that dads can be frightened too, and dad's monster has just as real an explanation as Michael's. Simple but colourful illustrations help the story along.
