Sam live on one side of the fence with his mum, and twin girls live on the other with their dad. Though these are single-parent families, the story is more about the relationships within those families. Sam says his mum is always rushing about, pushing, pulling, and making him do things - until he is ready to play and she is exhausted. The girls' dad gets cross with their antics, but in the evenings wants to play and tease when they would rather be quiet. A lovely coupling of rhymes and warm, lively pictures.
