Jason is having a 5th birthday party in the park, and all his friends and their parents are coming along to the festivities. As each family arrives with food and presents, we meet a wide diversity of people. There are black families, single parent families, step-families, mixed race families, families with two dads or two mums, a boy in a wheelchair with his mum, and adoptive families. On the final two-page layout we see the whole lot together, eating and chatting and playing and enjoying life as it should be lived. There are two pages for drawing one's own family at the end.
