Daddy brings Tom home from their happy day out, but Tom is cross and refuses dad his good-bye hug. Mum tries to cheer him, but it's no good. He runs to his bed crying, and mum gives him his teddy before leaving him to it. Teddy then tells Tom a story - about a little bear who lives with his mum but goes out sometimes with daddy bear. In the story within a story, Tom learns that his dad loves and cares for him even though they can't all live together anymore. Beautifully tender water-colour illustrations help make this an outstanding book.
