Dealing with family break-up ISBN: 9780750216425
Published by Wayland, 1995
Colour photographs and lots of text give excellent explanations of why parents break up, the various emotions children feel, such as shock, sadness, guilt and anger, how parents' problems can get in the way of their being understanding to their children, learning to cope with being caught in the middle and with all the other problems that separation brings about, and coping with telling friends about the break up. There is also a section on stepfamilies. The book tries to be as positive as possible and gives individual stories of how different children have coped. There is a short list of further reading, but no helpful organisations are given. A weakness.
