A new room for William ISBN: 9780747544890
Published by Bloomsbury, 2000
William and his mum have just moved to a new house, and William is not happy. He liked his old room and his old garden, and he isn't at all sure that he likes the looks of the boy next door. All the shadows at night look different, and he is fearful. However, after mum has put up dinosaur wallpaper and he discovers that the boy next door is quite nice, all seems set fair. It is only at the very end of the story that it becomes clear that William's parents have recently split up. He asks mum if dad will let him have dinosaur wallpaper in his new house too. A gentle, reassuring book about changes. Lovely colour-wash illustrations.
