Jenny Angel's little brother Davy is dying. Jenny believes herself to be his guardian 'angel' and has convinced him that she has wings. In order to help him and herself believe this, she wears an old raincoat of their mum's all the time - even at school. She sits on the roof at night and imagines herself flying over the countryside, seeing things to describe to Davy. As Davy gets weaker, she and her mum spend more and more time with him. After the funeral, she is able to take off the coat and accept that he is gone. A lovely mystical book, full of tenderness and beauty. The illustrations are outstanding.
