Two sisters walk home through the park one February day and come across the carousel they have enjoyed with their mum many times before. But the carousel is broken now, and the girls are astounded to hear the horses moving around inside. The magic begins here. The horses escape with the girls riding on two of them and they mount high into the night sky. The girls believe that the horses have become wild and reckless because they are broken, and they decide to fix the carousel with the help of their mum's tool kit. It is only now that we realise mum is dead, and as the girls use the kit to fix the broken carousel, they remember their mother's love of fixing things. One of the girls plays her flute, the song her mother used to play, to tame the horses back to their places on the carousel, and the girls make their way home. A moving and very unusual treatment of adjusting to the fact of death. The pictures are dark and swirling and magical.
