Elijah has a big brother called Manny, and just lately, Manny has developed little clouds over his head because of his mood swings. These little clouds are all different colours - red for anger, blue for sadness, purple for fear, and yellow for happiness. Mum explains to Elijah that these mood swings are different from those that he and all people have and are very strong and uncontrollable, and that Manny never knows how long they will last. They are more like bipolar than anything else, although Mum doesn't use that word. The two boys are close, and when Manny begins to go to a therapist, they both learn ways of helping him to cope. Sometimes the whole family goes to the therapist, and it is made clear that while there are lots of good things to do, Manny has a long-term difficulty that will need support. The pictures are super, a black family with lovable children and lots of bright colours on a basic white background. The information is age appropriate and well written, and the basically cheerful approach will very much appeal. Highly recommended.
