Finn is a happy little boy who loves to go to school with his mum on the bus, who enjoys the slide in the park and his warm bed at night too. But one day he begins to have worries. What if his mum gets off the bus without him, or he finds a monster under his bed, or if he falls off the slide. These worries bother him, and he is sad. One day in the park a friendly owl comes along, puts a wing around Finn and asks him what is wrong. Finn explains, and the owl says that these worries sound like cheeky worries to her and there are ways to help get rid of them. For instance, Finn should tell his mum about them and that can help. Why are the worries called 'cheeky' asks Finn, and the Owl explains that this is because they aren't true; the worries are trying to 'trick' him. Has his mum ever left him on the bus, has he seen a monster under his bed, has he ever fallen from the slide? 'No', admits Finn, and he begins to feel happy again. When the Owl flies off, she gives him a feather so he can remember her advice, and when he asks why so many of her feathers are missing, she replies that everyone has cheeky worries from time to time and need her help. Finn begins to realise that lots of people in the park have their own feathers from his new friend - even his Dad. This is a truly lovely story with good advice as well as tender, helpful pictures that add much to the whole; it should help lots of kids with worries that are superficial but none the less important to them.
