This magical picture book features Rory, who has a big worry. His worry is keeping him awake because tomorrow is a school day, and he is supposed to take something for 'show and tell' and can think of nothing. Then something interesting happens. His room begins to turn into a jungle, and out of that jungle pads a large tiger with a 'drum-beat purr...' and a love of poetic phrases. She is quite friendly and motherly and explains she is his Worry Tiger. Together they use mindfulness techniques that help him relax, so they feel the 'squelchy earth' with their feet, see beautiful fireflies, hear crickets and frogs, and stretch up like the monkeys far up into the trees, and breathe deep so they can smell the lovely odors. When Rory wakes in the morning, he has an idea. He will draw a picture of his Worry Tiger to take to school for show and tell and explain about his exciting night. This works a treat, and the teacher and his classmates are very pleased. At the end of the story, we are given more directions on the four mindfulness techniques used. This is a truly lovely picture book with lots of jungley, detailed pictures that will appeal.
