A solid information book about 34 different disabled people, their lives and their accomplishments, this impressive production covers a very large number of illnesses, conditions, and both physical and mental disability. Accompanied by excellent illustrations of each person and lots of decoration on each page, it also gives a substantial amount about the person's life and just how he or she has managed to live a life of importance to others in spite of disability. There are musicians here, from Beethoven to Lady Gaga, sports personalities from paralympic athletes to a one-legged marathon runner. Scientists, too, are included, as well as a mountaineer, a lawyer and an actor - and many others. Not all of these people have recognised names, but they all have done something of real significance for the world around them. This would be a super book for someone doing a project, and it certainly will be of great interest to anyone with a disability. Because of its positive outlook and the proof it contains of the different kinds of ability that life can hold, it gives much encouragement. Excellent.
