This practical and beautifully illustrated book uses animals as protagonists to show us how to become kind, brave, and happy. Because the outlook is a positive one, there is little mention of stress or serious anxiety, but only interesting facts about animals (some 67 of them) and how they can help us to become our ‘best selves’. The style is humorous, written with a sure touch, and full of the most delightful, colourful pictures on every page. We learn about how Meerkats stop bullying, how a horse who never wins a race perseveres because he loves running, how crows give gifts and many, many more. Divided into seven chapters - the uniqueness of you, finding inner confidence, finding the right friends, being kind, being brave, and finding happiness - there is also an introduction and a conclusion and a good index of all the animals mentioned. Excellent for older age groups, even teenagers, it will appeal to animal lovers as well as those who would like to know more. A long book at 157 pages, it is a real page-turner, and the interest should continue throughout. Very nicely produced and a real joy.
