The cheerful little boy in this picture book really wants to learn how to be a lion, so he goes into the 'Lion Shop, where he is met by a real lion who is to be his teacher in the seven steps to becoming a lion. He puts on his lion suit, and they begin with exercises. Then follow the seven steps: Looking Fierce, Roaring, Choosing What to Eat, Prowling Around, Sprinting, Pouncing, and the last of all, Looking Out For Your Friends. He isn't very good at any of these things, and his lion teacher is a bit sniffy about this. However, when he sees a kitten being chased by a dog, he suddenly becomes extremely fierce - a lion indeed - and he passes his diploma with flying colours. A lovely and funny picture book about standing up for your friends.
