Lucy is the victim of an unpleasant gang of girls, led by Natalie. Lucy is very dependent on their friendship, and when she has to wear a peculiar pair of shorts to school because her mum insists, the gang turns nasty. Lucy's day is awful. At the end of the book, Lucy is faced with a decision - to tell her mum the whole story or to continue to hope that she will come back in Natalie's good graces again. Excellent for discussion purposes, and as the book is only 45 pages long, could be read in class. Black and white illustrations.
