Lulu and the Noisy Baby ISBN: 9781408828182
Published by Bloomsbury Childrens, 2016
Lulu is a very happy little girl, who 'likes to do all kinds of things'. When she is told that a baby is on the way, she is delighted, and she sees a photo of the baby while still inside mummy, helps daddy make a castle for the baby, and is pleased to see Granny when she comes to look after her. When Freddy is brought home from the hospital, she is terribly excited and more than willing to help. All goes well, and as Freddy grows, Lulu realises that even though they play together lots, sometimes they are cross with each other, and that is okay too. She will always be his big sister, and she will always love him. So far, so good, but there are lots of books with this theme. The real positive aspect of this one is that the book is heavily laminated and has lots and lots of flaps to lift, to discover what is underneath. Small children will love this, and each time the book is read (which will be lots and lots too!) every flap will have to be lifted and every new picture and word read. The pictures are a bright and colourful delight, and Lulu and her antics will be beloved by little ones for a long time. Super!
