Different people have very different needs so far as families are concerned, and in this jolly picture book, we meet all sorts - little families, big ones, families who adopt or foster, step families, single parents, same sex parents, the use of IVF and surrogate mothers. Families can be happy or not, but one thing is certain: 'there will always be new children and they will all need families'. The explanation of IVF is particularly simple and clear, as is all the factual information, and for an introduction to different kinds of families, this could hardly be bettered. The illustrations in a comic-style are full of detail and child-like drawings, and the whole production has an air of exuberance about it. Fun and informative at the same time.
