In an original picture book with 'photos' of animal families (who are really human families in disguise), we meet every conceivable kind of family. Included are families with lots of children and those with only one; there are families with two dads or two mums, and those with only one mum or dad, those who live with a grandparent, those who live with an aunt, those who are adopted or live in a step family, and many others - the point being that if you love one another, you are a family! The pictures are great fun. Each family is shown in a frame that hangs on a wall or sits on a mantelpiece, and the frames and backgrounds are very much indicative of the kind of family that one finds in the picture. The pictures themselves are in comic style, while the backgrounds seem to be photographic and are quite realistic. For example, the large family of ducks is shown in what appears to be the real wall of a duck house, with straw and eggs underneath. It's all very clever and ingenious and will prove great fun to young readers. The massive 'photo' at the end of all the different kinds of families together is a gem!
