Pirate Pete's Potty: a Ladybird Potty Training Book ISBN: 9781409302209
Andrea Pinnington and Williamson, Melanie
Published by LADYBIRD, 2000
No one in Pirate Pete's family uses nappies except himself and his baby brother - not daddy pirate, not mummy pirate, nor big girl pirate - so Pete decides it would be a good idea for him not to wear nappies either. A potty is purchased, and when mummy explains what it is for, Pete practices sitting on it. Then they buy some 'grown-up pirate pants', and he is able to choose the ones he wants. He practices with those too, pulling them up and down. Then he has a try on the potty and produces a bit of wee while mummy explains the rules of using the potty. There are occasional accidents of course, but mum and dad know he is trying hard. Doing a poo is harder to accomplish, but when he finally does it, everyone must see and praise. The great attraction of this board book is that there is a button to press, and on each page when the task is accomplished, we push the button and hear a cheering crowd of children! Great stuff. Boys will love it, and it also gives parents some very good suggestions about how to start the toilet training process.
