This book is a detailed explanation of the different symptoms that can be suffered when one has ME. It doesn't go into details about medication although it does explain the problems that are associated with diagnosing the condition and the different lists of symptoms that doctors use in diagnosing. The story is told by a mother (Molly) and her two children (Ellie and Eric). There is a father, whom we see in the pictures, but he doesn't have a part in telling the story. Molly has had ME/CFG(Myalgic Encephalitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome) for some years and has good days and bad days. On her bad days, she often can't get out of bed, and she explains that she must save up her energy, rather like a points system in a video game, so that she can do some of the things she wants to. This can be tough for the family, and the book is honest about ways that the children can find her illness difficult. In Molly's case, her ME was brought on by glandular fever, but she knows that this is not the only way people can get it. She goes into some detail about the various symptoms that people with ME/CFG can have: headaches, blurred vision, upset stomach, pins and needles, restless legs, aching limbs, sore throat, and, of course, fatigue. The information is good, the black and white illustrations are helpful, and the list of organisations at the back of the book is extensive - it covers many countries. There is a list of acronyms which could prove very useful, and there is also advice for teachers who may have children with problems due to a parent's illness. This book will be very helpful to children and adults alike, and as children can also suffer from this debilitating disease, they will find the information useful too.
