Rosie's Babies ISBN: 9780744523355

This beautiful and sensitive picture book deals with sibling jealousy in such a delicate way that children will not realise that a lesson is being learned. In truly lovely art work, we meet Rosie and her mum while mum is getting the new baby ready for bed, and Rosie begins her story about her two babies. In the pictures we see that her babies are her toys, teddy and rabbit, and in her rambling and utterly four-year-old way, we hear about their adventures. Sometimes Rosie's babies do silly things like climbing mountains and then falling on their bottoms, and she gets cross. Sometimes they have to have their knees bandaged, and sometimes Rosie has to protect them from a big black dog. On go their adventures, all of them having to do with mums looking after their babies, and in the end, Rosie decides that while the real new baby sleeps, her babies are sleeping too, and it's now time for her and her mum to talk about: ME. Utterly delightful!
