The little boy is scared of a number of things, but mostly of the dark. He doesn't like mice or cockroaches or lizards either! His loving family, mum, dad and sister, explain to him that fear actually helps him protect himself, that it is things he doesn't understand that he finds fearful - like not being able to see in the dark. When dad explains that all creatures need to rest and that the nighttime is for that purpose, and when his sister says he should ask himself just why he is scared, the little boy realises that he doesn't know why. This is a useful concept for him. If he doesn't know why he is scared, then why should he be? Dad ends up saying: 'All creatures are part of nature and you do not need to be scared of them.' While the comic-style pictures are bright and cheerful and the large print is easily read, there is a certain amount of stilted writing in the text. As the book was published in India, this may be due to translation.
