Milly is still in the process of getting used to having a new step-dad, Kevin. She and her mum and her older brother Matthew have always been a family, and now she must adjust to having Kevin around all the time. They have met him before, of course, and spent time together, but sometimes she doesn't like it when Kevin tells her off: 'He is not really my dad.' But mum and Kevin are both reassuring and explain that he loves them as though he were their dad. They meet Harry, Kevin's son too, and he often spends weekends when they all do things together. While the story admits that there can be problems, the emphasis is on the positive aspects of being in a step-family. The large print is easily read, and the photographs show us just what the story is about.
