While there is a visit to the dentist in this jolly picture book, the real theme is the 'wibbly-wobbly, bibbly-bobbly tooth'. Lollipop is very proud of her teeth and brushes them carefully every day. Grandpa has rather bad teeth, with gaps, because he didn't take care of them when he was little. Lollipop thinks it's great that he can slurp his soup through the gaps. (Mum is less impressed.) When Lollipop's tooth becomes wobbly, Grandpa has all sorts of remarkable suggestions as to how they might remove it. Perhaps a tug-of-war might help, or a woodpecker could knock it out, or an elephant suck it out. Penelope does not think these are good ideas. So Grandpa suggests a snack, and a red juicy apple does the trick! Very wiley, these granddads. The two of them go off to the dentist, who reassures Lollipop that there is a new tooth coming through and that all is well. She gets a ride in the dentist's chair (and sees his hairy nose while he's checking her teeth) and is given a sticker for being a good patient. Then she and Grandpa go home to slurp soup for lunch. This is great fun, and a super story about inter-generational relationships.
