Very simple sentences and large print introduce us to Beth, who has a new baby brother. He doesn't seem to do much but sleep and cry, and Beth can't understand why everyone is so interested in him. There always seems to be a crowd around his crib, making odd goo-goo noises, and no one is paying her much attention except to hush her. Silly baby. It is Granny who notices that Beth is looking sad, and she brings the baby to Beth so she can hold him, see his smiles, and feel how soft he is. He may be a silly baby, but he is also HER brother. The simplest of stories, illustrated with skill and warmth.
