This story about a family with a baby on the way gives quite a lot of information on what it is like for a youngster to have a new sibling, but does it in easily assimilated style. Sam's mum's tummy has become too big for him to sit on her lap, but together they get ready for the baby and look at pictures of Sam as a baby. We see dad taking mum to hospital and Granny coming to look after Sam (and let him off having his bath!). When new sister Jenny is born, dad and Sam buy presents and then visit hospital where Sam meets Jenny 'very small and rather wrinkled' for the first time. After that we see the baby and mum coming home, an accident when in all the confusion Sam tries to get his own drink, a cuddle from dad, all the work the baby takes, the visitors and presents (some for Sam too) that appear and Sam's being allowed to push the pram. All in all, a new sister seems a good thing, though occasional facial expressions show us there are downsides too. At the end Sam feels that 'sometimes it's nice to have mum all to himself'. A good, honest story about life with a new sibling in a loving family.
