What a smashing picture book! The rich colours and interesting perspectives make it outstanding in illustration, and the text is unusual while including the repetition so enjoyed by children. Igor, the 'head goose' makes sure his charges march to the pond each day in strict rhythm - one, two, one two. But Zita, the newest goose, can't seem to get the hang of it. Igor insists she returns to the farmyard, and she is sad. 'I'm rubbish at being a goose,' she thinks. But as she returns to the pond, using her own rhythm, the other farm animals follow one by one, adding their rhythms to hers until they are all at the pond dancing. Igor and the other geese are amazed, and now only Igor marches one, two, one, two. All the other animals wait for Zita who 'dances to a different tune every day'. One bit of advice: if using this with a group, practice first. The rhythms take a bit of getting used to! A lovely book.
