Tooth decay ISBN: 9780431021553

Large print, clear photographs and diagrams and simple information make this good for younger primary children. There is no mention that there can be a genetic element to tooth decay - sugar is the only culprit - but that is understandable in a book for younger children. We learn not only about tooth decay but also about gum disease, bacteria, plaque and abscesses. We are told to brush after every meal and also first thing in the morning and last thing at night - which according to my dentist is excessive, though there may be differences of opinion on this. There is also a section on healthy eating. Fluoride and sealants are explained, as well as the importance of 6 monthly checkups. A glossary explains the harder words, and there is an index and a list of further books to read.
