Little Cat desperately wants to play with the other cats, but he has the world's loudest meow, and the other cats don't want him around. His mum and dad say his meow is just 'purrr-fect', and he is reassured. But the other cats still won't play. Sadly, he retreats under the house - until the other cats arrive, chased by Bruno Bulldog. Little Cat saves the day with his big meow, and bravely flattens Bruno against the side of the house in a picture reminiscent of Tom and Jerry cartoons. The illustrations are a treat; the lettering for the meows often flows through the pictures and is woven into the text. Word play and rhyming are abundant, and the point that being different can have its pluses is made with great panache. Huge fun!
