Celia is less and less happy as the time for the new baby's arrival approaches. Her family is thrilled, but Celia feels isolated. When they go to visit mum in hospital, Celia pushes a vase of flowers off the table so hers can go there, and she resents all the relatives talking about how pretty the baby is. When mum and baby get home, everyone is tired and rushed, and no one notices Celia's growing unhappiness - until one morning she cuts her hair off. Mum then recognises the problem and asks for Celia's help because the baby is 'wearing me out'. Subtle and spot-on.
