This is for the child who is cross after the new baby has come. Little Fox feels very left out when Baby Fox is allowed to sleep in his old cradle, and when Mummy doesn't appear to pay any attention to his lovely castle, he throws the bricks to the ground and wakes the baby. Then he has a tantrum and retreats to the cupboard under the stairs: 'Mummy doesn't love me now she's got that new baby.' And he's very sad and knows he's been wrong. But clever Mummy Fox makes his favourite honey cake and comes to the cupboard to tell him that she needs 'my own best Little Fox', and soon they are having a lovely cuddle and eating cake. Little Fox even offers to share cake with the baby when he is older. The beauty of this story lies in the fact that Little Fox says all the things older siblings would like to say but either are afraid to or don't know how. The illustrations are full of light and comfort and warmth and provide solace in their homely atmosphere. Spot on!
