James really does behave monstrously. He is untidy and always late, but worst of all, he is very off-hand with his mum, taking her for granted. A big monster comes looking for him and carries him off to her lair because 'little monsters belong with other little monsters'. Mum comes to the rescue because she loves him even though he does sometimes behave badly. Wonderfully dotty illustrations.
