It is Lucy's grandfather who is blind in this story, but we don't discover this until the end. All the other children in the nursery class are painting, but Lucy asks if she can make a collage for her grandpa instead. The picture she produces uses velvet and plastic, twigs, sand, and even a piece of her own hair (for a dog). When grandpa and his guide dog appear with Lucy's mum at home time, he is so pleased with his picture: 'It's the best picture I've ever seen'. Exceedingly good for raising awareness in very young children. The colourful illustrations have a collage feel to them.
