Monty's mum is a doctor - a very busy doctor. So busy that when she comes home in the evening she only wants to rest and read the paper. One day Monty tries to tell her something: he feels hot and shivery and as though someone has been 'feeding him worms'. It is only when he pulls up his shirt and shows her his spots that she pays attention. 'Oh, Monty. What a terrible doctor I am! You've got chickenpox!' After that, he gets plenty of love and attention and is soon feeling better. There is a mother's help in evidence, but no dad. Excellent illustrations.
