A clear introduction to the complex subject of dyslexia. Chapters on what it is, the dyslexic brain, assessment, specific problems with reading, writing and maths and strategies for learning, along with a glossary, an index, and a list of websites complete the book. This may make a better introduction to teachers than to pupils as the material is quite complicated. However, stories of individuals and how they cope and short 'soundbites' about famous people make the book very interesting. It could be questioned as to whether the famous people mentioned (eg. Yeats, Einstein, etc.) were actually dyslexic as they could not have been 'assessed'. However, they all certainly had learning problems of some sort, and dyslexic youngsters will find their stories reassuring. Young people should find the learning strategies most useful.
