Russ and the firehouse ISBN: 9781890627171
Published by Woodbine House, 2000
Russ has Down's syndrome, but this book isn't really about his Down's. It's about a very special day he spends with his Uncle Jerry at the local fire station. Together they 'do all sorts of neat things' like spraying with the giant hose, inspecting all the equipment, and then cleaning it - even the firehouse dog gets a bath! There's lots of soap and water and mess, and Ross has a terrific time. When mom comes to collect him, he promises to come back again another day. The photographs of Ross and the Chicago fire department are a treat, and little boys particularly will enjoy all the detail.
